On the train
If you don’t have time to buy your ticket in advance, don’t worry – just get on the train and make yourself known to the train manager who will sell you a ticket. There are no penalty fares on Wrexham & Shropshire and you will not be charged any more than if you had booked online or by telephone.
When you buy on the train you can:
- Buy a Wrexham & Shropshire Open or Saver ticket for travel on that train on that day
- Buy an interavailable ticket such as a day return, or a through ticket that requires travel on other passenger train operators’ trains
- Buy tickets for groups
Our best value Advance tickets, by their very nature, are not available to buy on the day of travel – you need to buy online or telephone us to get the very best advance deals.
Bear in mind that some trains might be quite busy – so, if you’d like the peace of mind that comes with a free seat reservation, please book in advance.
If you're travelling from either London Marylebone or Shrewsbury you'll need to buy your ticket before boarding the train from the ticket office. That's because these stations are gated, requiring a valid ticket to pass through onto the platforms. Please allow a little extra time for this.

When you buy on the train your card details are completely safe and secure. We will not pass them to any other organisation, except with your explicit consent or if we are required to do so by law.
